Atop Mount Jamanroliki’s summit, our heroes are greeted by a fearsome creature. An enormous silver dragon descends from the skies and lands in front of them.
Argenturan: “Speak, mortal creatures. Are you friends or fools? Why have you come to such an inhospitable place? Is it counsel you seek?”
Adventurers: “Panshaw is under siege by a red dragon, and we need your help, oh mighty dragon!”
Argenturan:”I am not one to participate in mortal affairs — but a red dragon, you say? Does this Panshaw perhaps hold ruins or relics of the Manros?”
Adventurers: “You mean this?” — and the heroes produce the pyramid’s artifact from their bag of holding.
Argenturan: “By Bahamut’s scales, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU HOLD IN YOUR HANDS?!? This is what Ashgex hopes to find in Panshaw! Come with me, we must stop him — and keep that artifact hidden.”
With the dragon’s aid, our heroes approach Panshaw in a few hours. In the distance, smoke rises from Panshaw’s main gate, as an army of dragon cultists and other evil creatures breach the walls. Ashgex, the red dragon, is spotted doing strafing runs with its fiery breath, disassembling Panshaw’s forces’ formation.
As both dragons lock gazes, thunder rumbles from the clouds, as if foreboding an epic clash.
Ashgex: “So we meet again, Argenturam. These creatures dared slay my child, and now ALL WILL BURN! Begone, or so will you!”
It seems the kobold’s leader was not just some random wyrmling, and Ashgex is furious with our heroes and their home city.
Argenturan:”I am sorry for your loss, Ashgex, but you tried to upset the balance. The Manros went extinct because of their lust for power, and you and your brethren yearn for that same forbidden lore. I will stop you once and for all! Heroes, leave him to me. When the time comes, you’ll know what to do.”
The dragon leaves the adventurers on the rear of the invading army and they are able to execute a pincer maneuver with Panshaw’s forces, destroying their siege weaponry and killing their archers. Panshaw’s defensive formations are reformed as Ashgex is busy fighting Argenturam. The tide of the battle is turning; hope and morale are regained!
While the forces of evil are mostly beaten by Panshaw’s army and the adventurers, the battle is not going as well for Argenturam. As the fight drags on, Ashgex’s superiority shows, and the heroes feel they must intervene.
Adventurers: “Hey, you overgrown flying lizard, looking for this? We butchered a wyrmling and took the relic from his hoard! Come and get it!”
Blind with rage, Ashgex deals the finishing blow against Argenturam, who comes crashing to the ground, and then the wounded red dragon dives toward the adventurers. They must now stand their ground and finish him so Argenturam’s sacrifice won’t be in vain!
